BreastScreen Queensland Rockhampton and Gladstone clinics are urging Central Queensland women to put their bras out during October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The month provides perfect opportunity to start conversations and to create a groundswell of support and community education around breast cancer and breast screening for preventative health.

A special service will be held at the Rockhampton Memorial Gardens on October 12 to recognise babies lost before 20 weeks of pregnancy. Rockhampton Hospital chaplains and social workers have helped develop a space at the Memorial Gardens to allow those affected by early pregnancy loss to have a space for reflection. Services are held there regularly to honour the lost babies and anyone is welcome to attend. The next service will be held at 5.30pm on Wednesday, October 12, at the Memorial Gardens, on Lakes Creek Road, Nerimbera. Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service posted a strong performance in the past financial year, as highlighted in its 2015-16 Annual Report, tabled in Parliament today. Board Chair Paul Bell said the service provided access to new, improved and life-saving services, delivered on time by more staff from new facilities, resulting in better health outcomes for Central Queenslanders.
